Since 1999, when Vico Magistretti brought them to life with DePadova, the Cirene modern accent chairs have traveled far, establishing themselves as a symbol of elegance and functionality. In 2015, continuing the collaboration with RPBW Studio – Renzo Piano Building Workshop, De Padova’s modern accent chairs made their way into the library of the new Whitney Museum in New York, standing out for their essential and refined lines.
This prestigious project is characterized by the organization of the interior spaces, which justifies the staggered planes and volumes of the building, reflecting its external architecture. The library, located to the north of the central core, immersed in glass and light, also houses offices, educational centers, restoration labs, and an innovative retractable theater.
Positioned between the High Line and the Hudson River, this masterpiece by the Pritzker Prize-winning architect represents a rebirth of Manhattan’s industrial spirit, offering the American institution dedicated to modern and contemporary art a 1,700-square-meter open-plan gallery, entirely column-free.
Being part of such an ambitious project is a great achievement for DePadova, once again demonstrating the ability of its modern accent chairs to seamlessly integrate into iconic and culturally significant settings.
