A project can have countless starting points. This one, developed by architect Alessandra Sacchi alongside the De Padova Santa Cecilia team in Milan for the renovation of a private apartment in a historic building, began with its relationship to the context. The upscale neighborhood, deeply characterized by its Art Nouveau style, is affectionately named by locals as the “”Quadrilatero del Silenzio””.
The light tones that flow from the floors to the walls and through designer furniture like the Shine Table and modern chairs such as Incisa and M16, amplify the serene atmosphere from outside, infusing the interior space with a vital energy. The historical charm has not been forgotten here, with original traces of history found in the decorations, door engravings, plaster ceiling moldings, and whitewashed wooden floors. A strategic use of mirrors, including the large Veneziana (designed by Piero Lissoni) in the dining room, becomes a focal point, playing with these historical references.
The greenery from the terrace extends into the room, reflecting iconic furnishings like the Raffles armchair and Raffles sofa, which combine elegance and comfort. The minimalist design of the Sen coffee table fits naturally into the space, while the Mogura and Naviglio lamps illuminate the rooms with soft light, creating an intimate and welcoming atmosphere.
Every room is defined by the coordinated signature of Boffi, De Padova, and MA/U Studio. This harmonious blend expresses the reassuring order of domestic life, where the emotional connection between objects is reflected in the precise linearity and welcoming nature of the forms, alongside their rigorous yet approachable functional declarations. The recognizable and versatile image of everyday intimacy awaits to be lived, through the timeless beauty of designer furniture.
