Director’s chair made of leather and ash with a black stain

Almayer

Almayer reimagines and reinterprets the design of the iconic director’s chair, transforming it into a modern seating by using black stained ash and a leather seat, creating balance between distinctive contrasts. Tradition and innovation, elegance and simplicity, technology and craftsmanship, wood and leather unite in a foldable design to be opened and closed at will. “Designing means knowing, it doesn’t mean having intuitions”.

“Almayer is the protagonist of ‘Almayer’s Folly’, Joseph Conrad’s first novel published in 1892. In my mind, the folding timber and leather chair immediately reconnects to the relaxed and evocative atmospheres characterising the incipit of many of the Anglo-Polish writer’s novels”
