THE CEO AND PRESIDENT OF BOFFI | DEPADOVA ALSO CELEBRATES 35 YEARS AT THE HELM OF THE BOFFI BRAND

 Boffi|DePadova is honoured to announce that Roberto Gavazzi, CEO and President of the group, has received the Compasso d’Oro Career Award.

Awarded during the XXVIII edition, this recognition is intended for individuals, companies and organisations working primarily in Italy who have distinguished themselves in the field of design.

The prize was awarded for the following reasons:

“ADI and the ADI Foundation recognise his role as a leading figure in Italian design culture.”

Established in 1954 from an idea of Gio Ponti, the Compasso d’Oro award is the oldest and most respected recognition in the field of design at an international level. It is assigned based on a pre-selection process carried out by the Permanent Design Observatory of ADI (Italian Design Association), a body made up of experts, designers, critics, historians and industry journalists aimed at enhancing the creative richness of Italy.

The Compasso d’Oro Career Award recognises Roberto Gavazzi’s contribution to Made in Italy as an original interpreter of a new standard of living. Gavazzi sees this award not only as a personal achievement but also as a tribute to the dedication and passion that characterise the entire Boffi|DePadova team.

Roberto Gavazzi commented: “I am truly honoured to join the small and distinguished list of winners of this prestigious award. The year 2024 has been one marked by important milestones: the 90th anniversary of Boffi and the 35 years I have committed to this company, a journey which has been filled with inspiration and opportunities.”

Since 1989, Roberto Gavazzi has been at the helm of Boffi, a company which he has transformed into a cutting-edge design brand capable of forging innovative interior solutions. He has enabled it to expand internationally and develop strategic synergies with other high-end brands. A visionary project gave birth to the Boffi|DePadova group to create an integrated, comprehensive offering of furnishings and living systems which are characterised by refinement and uniqueness while maintaining a distinct personality, thus developing an unprecedented proposal for a new ” way of living.”

Born in Brazil to an Italian family with a strong entrepreneurial background, Gavazzi graduated from Bocconi University in Milan and earned his MBA from Columbia University in New York. After gaining significant international experience in industrial groups such as Saint-Gobain and Olivetti, a meeting 35 years ago with Paolo Boffi was the turning point that allowed him to realise his entrepreneurial vision, combining economic and cultural objectives.

“Innovating is above all a desire,” according to Roberto Gavazzi. “It’s a desire to create design of the highest quality. The challenge lies in defining what this concept is in 2024. In the Seventies, but also even 20 years later, it coincided with letting creativity have free rein over products. Today, in our complex industry, true innovation comes from a winning entrepreneurial strategy which continuously combines the best intuitive sensitivity with critical success factors. The product is always the principal component, but it’s not the only thing. We must look at and evaluate the forest as a whole and not just see the trees of this contemporary domestic landscape.”
