Lorenz + Kaz

Catharina Lorenz (Munich / Germany, 1964) Industrial design, graduated from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in 1991. Steffen Kaz (Stuttgart / Germany, 1964) Industrial design, diploma from Hamburg Academy of Art in 1994 and Furniture Designer MA in from Royal College of Art di Londra in 1996. Lorenz + Kaz design studio, was founded in 2001 in Milan by Catharina Lorenz and Steffen Kaz, both German designers living and working in Italy since the mid Nineties. Its multidisciplinary team works in project design, industrial design, exhibit design, interior design and graphic design with a particular eye on art direction. Beyond these prestigious collaborations, Catharina Lorenz and Steffen Kaz are designing, producing and commercializing their own Lorenz + Kaz branded collection. What characterizes their creativity is their sustained quest for perfection and a hybrid “Nordic- Italian” imprint of their designs; aware of its origins and always willing to transform and evolve into something new and innovative. Their work has been awarded with several international awards (Red Dot Best of Best Design Award, Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award, German Design Award Special Mention).
