Boston Rd is famous for being the home of Mt Eden Prison, a formidable castle-styled building constructed in 1856 from solid local basalt stone. Nowadays the ‘Uptown’ precinct of Grafton, home to Boffi Studio, is also the destination of many top international design labels and specialists in furniture, lighting and textiles.
There are also a great selection of cafe’s, bars and award winning restaurants in the neighborhood all housed in a raw mixture of Victorian architecture and new contemporary buildings designed by some of the country’s leading architects.
Located very close to all the motorways, and the local train station we are easily accessible form any part of the greater Auckland area. Boffi Studio purchased and renovated the original motorcycle factory of the area; grinding back concrete floors to expose the local basalt aggregate and treating the ceilings with aged rough sawn cedar sarking.
The steel structure is visible and raw and accentuates the well proportioned bones of the 70’s building. With a new steel bi-folding door system to the façade the showroom can be opened during the summer months for exhibitions and events.
The displays of kitchens, bathrooms and systems are housed in over 200m2 of showroom, with private meeting spaces and a large library of design resources; client parking is available directly in front of the showroom or in the basement.
